The Cloaked Assassin specializes in swift and stealthy eliminations on unsuspecting enemy contestants.
Overview
Loadout | Description | ||
---|---|---|---|
Specialization | Cloaking Device | The Cloaking Device is integral to this build, allowing the user to easily sneak up on opponents and get within backstabbing range. | |
Weapon | Dagger | The Dagger is the essential weapon for this build, as it allows the user to one-hit-kill most opponents as long as the user is behind them (aided by the Cloaking Device). | |
Gadget 1 | Stun Gun | The Stun Gun allows users to immobilize enemies to gain an advantage in the fight. This is especially useful when chasing down opponents with the Dagger. | |
Gadget 2 | Glitch Grenade | Glitch Grenades are useful for disabling enemy abilities, which creates a better opportunity to attack (or retreat if needed). | |
Gadget 3 | Smoke Grenade | Smoke Grenades are useful for occluding sightlines and concealing movement. A well-placed smokescreen can allow the user to approach without being seen. When used in combination with the Cloaking Device, the user is able to remain unseen throughout an entire fight. |
Playstyle
The main goal of this build is to assassinate one or more opponents on an enemy team and give your teammates the advantage when they engage.
Target Priority
The ideal target is a contestant that is separated from their team, distracted, immobilized or glitched, and/or unaware of your presence. This will most likely take place as your team is engaging, and the opponents will be focused on returning fire which is when they are most vulnerable (distracted, back turned, aiming-down-sights). Picking a target should come first in an engagement, so you are prepared for a swift execution.
The Approach
The most difficult aspect of this build is the approach, as this is when the user is most vulnerable to attacks. The Assassin should time their arrival with the engagement of their teammates with the enemy for the best assassination opportunity.
- To ensure that its cooldown is used efficiently, the Cloaking Device shouldn't be activated until you are in line-of-sight of your target.
- Your route to approach should be an off-angle where the opponents are not focusing, typically behind them. Use the Light Build's high movement speed to sprint, slide, and scale to a better approaching position.
- Use Smoke Grenades, Goo Barrels, or Goo Grenades to block off sightlines to your planned route.
- Try your best to stay unseen as you approach. This will increase the chances that your target is unaware of your presence.
- If you are spotted during the approach, find cover and disengage, as the opposing teams will anticipate your arrival. Use gadgets, barrels, and the environment to aid your disengagement. Re-engage when the enemies are distracted.
- Once you are amidst the enemy, you may need to re-evaluate your target priority if the fight has evolved. Don't be afraid to disengage if the enemy team seems aware of your presence.
Execution
Staying cloaked, walk or sprint to the back of your target and alt-fire with the Dagger.
- If the backstab lands, it will deal 320 damage, instantly eliminating a Medium or Light Build. If the target is a Heavy Build, a Quick Melee after the backstab will deal 40 damage and finish off the remaining portion of their health.
- If the stab does not hit the back of the target, it will deal only 50 damage. If the target happens to already be low-health (or a Light Build), a few primary swipes with the Dagger will finish them off. If not, your best chance is to attempt to escape.
The Escape
Use a combination of the Cloaking Device, gadgets, and high mobility to escape after an assassination. Re-engage as needed in order to win the fight.
